Myrick: 2013 Budget Targets ‘Fiscal Crisis’

ITHACA — Describing an upcoming “fiscal crisis,” City of Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick outlined his proposed 2013 budget at Wednesday’s Common Council meeting. His budget includes consolidating several City Hall departments, leaving some municipal jobs unfilled and a 2.72 percent property tax increase.

The budget offered by the mayor makes room, however, for creating a Chief of Staff position with an $82,000 per year salary. Also added to the City Hall roster: a $60,000-per-year lobbyist to represent Ithaca in Albany and Washington, DC.
