ITHACA — New York Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales will be in Ithaca Friday to join Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick. The two will announce funding of the third phase of the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. The trail’s third section will link the Farmer’s Market and Cass Park.
Perales is in the area unveiling projects that have won grant’s from the state’s Local Waterfront Revitalization program. Thursday, the state official was in Waterloo, where he helped cut the ribbon for the first section of the Cayuga-Seneca Trail.
In Ithaca, the Cayuga Waterfront Trail has been a project that’s taken nearly a decade to complete, having begun in 2003 with a two-mile loop that takes pedestrians from Cass Park and along the southwest shore of Cayuga Lake. In 2010, the second section was completed, linking the Farmers Market at Steamboat Landing to the Visitors Center via Stewart Park and the Fuertes Bird Sanctuary.
